Internships for Hunter College English Majors

Guidelines for Student Interns:

Student interns:

may receive a maximum of 3 credits for enrollment in one section of ENGL 498 and may enroll in ENGL 498 one time only.  Exceptions to this rule may be granted if, in the judgment of the department representative, professional or academic considerations merit an increase; may not count credit received for ENGL 498 toward satisfaction of their major requirements; must have a GPA of 3.0 or above; must be juniors or seniors; will receive a letter grade for ENGL 498; must write for the course both a preliminary draft and a final draft of an essay that, in addition to following the essay guidelines set by the Inservice Learning Program, includes a critical evaluation of the professional activity engaged in by the host organization; may not work at places where they will be reimbursed for their labors, and may not work for Hunter College agencies; must notify the department representative, in writing, of their interest in participating in the program by 12/15 for the spring semester, 5/1 for the summer semester, or 8/15 for the fall semester; must meet with the department representative to discuss the required essay before the internship begins.
